The grand finale of Walking Works
22 March 2021

Week 4 is the finale of Walking Works and hopefully the start of some great walking habits for you!
Benefits of a brisk walk
All walking is beneficial, but for the greatest benefits to heart, lungs and blood pressure, brisk is best.
A brisk 30-minute walk (doing approx 4 mph) will result in burning 150 calories, as long as the speed is maintained. For this final challenge, we’d like everyone to incorporate one brisk walk (min. 30 mins) into this week’s schedule – before, during or after work.
Enjoy the challenge and we hope you all feel better, happier and more productive thereafter.
And remember to make your walking pledge at livingstreets.org.uk/pledge – everyone that makes a pledge will be entered into a prize draw with the chance to win one of 2 x Living Streets Goody Bags (Ts&Cs apply – available on request).
Share your experiences and thoughts on Twitter and Instagram using #WalkingWorks @livingstreets
And don’t forget to join in with the Step Up Challenge; 12 weeks to complete one of three virtual routes. If you started early, all your walks for Walking Works can be added in, but if you start now, hopefully you’ll get some great walking habits going that will last a healthy lifetime!
