Hello from Living Streets!
31 July 2019
By Hayley Carmichael
In support of our upcoming Breathe Easy September campaign, we’ve partnered with Living Streets on their Walking Works initiative. Janey Bray, prpject co-ordinator for West Sussex tells us all about it.
What is Walking Works?
“We’re the UK charity for everyday walking. Your organisation has signed up to our initiative Walking Works, which aims to embed a culture of walking around workplaces all over the UK. We hope you’re excited!”
“Since speaking with your Care Without Carbon Team we have designed a bespoke programme of activities to get you animated about walking at work. ”
A programme for West Sussex
Care Without Carbon worked with Janey to develop a bespoke programme of Walking Works for Crawley/Horsham Trust sites.
The programme involves:
- Staff Guided Walk – in either Crawley or Horsham on the 26th September
- Walk Champion Training – date and location to be confirmed
- Walking Map for either the Crawley or Horsham area which will be made available on the intranet
We need your help!
To understand how we can best help workplaces to walk more and do the best job we can for you, it would be helpful if you could answer a few, short questions about your walking habits.
If you could fill out this survey, we’d really appreciate it! And literally only takes a couple of minutes!
Plus, you can enter a prize draw if you complete the survey to win a £25 voucher for Love 2 Shop. Survey closes 19th August.
A bit more about us
Living Streets is a national charity; founded 90 years ago to improve safety for pedestrians with the rise in motor cars. Back then, we campaigned for the UK’s first zebra crossing and speed limits; today we continue to campaign for better and safer streets for people on foot and get people to live a healthier life. Working together with schools, workplaces and community groups, our aim is to build a nation where walking is the natural choice for short, everyday journeys.
