Get involved with fundraising for NHS charities to celebrate the 75th birthday of the NHS and get active for Walk for Wards 2023.
NHS charities across Sussex & Surrey unite as Heads On (Sussex Partnership), SASH, Sussex Community, and East Sussex Healthcare host Walk for Wards on Saturday 10 June at Glynde Place, East Sussex.
We challenge you to jog or run one of the new for 2023, 7.5km or 15km routes. Whilst raising funds to support NHS Charities who provide vital support to our colleagues and patients.
All of the details on how to get involved and start fundraising can be found by following this link.
Our amazing NHS charities
NHS charities do so much to support the amazing care that is provided by the NHS, and allow us to go above and beyond what would usually be possible.
So far, our charities have provided a whole host of support. From renovating greenspaces on NHS sites, to making hospitals more comfortable and welcoming, and even funding pioneering research and equipment.
By taking part in Walk for Wards and raising funds for these charities, you can help to support the great work they do and allow them to continue.
A great opportunity to be greener
If you’re planning to take on the challenge, why not tie this in with your commitment to reducing your carbon footprint by swapping short car journeys for walks as part of your training for the big event. Could you walk to work a few times a week instead of hopping in the car? What about ditching the wheels and walking to your local shop to pick up that loaf of bread?
We know that walking and getting more active is hugely beneficial for the heart and mind, so the more active we can get, the better we’ll feel.
Making walking a part of our daily routine can also be hugely beneficial for our environment, by reducing harmful emissions and making the air cleaner for us all to breathe.
Also, if you’re taking part in the NHS 1000 miles challenge this is a great opportunity to get some more miles under your belt.
