Cycling is a sustainable way to travel

We all know that driving less is a great way to reduce our carbon footprint, but sometimes making the choice to lose the car and embrace a different mode of transport can be hard.
Supporting staff at Sussex Partnership to cycle
At Sussex Partnership, as part of its ongoing Care Without Carbon programme, staff are supported in making choices about how to get from A to B, whether that is a commute to work, or travelling between sites or even for community visits.
As well as installing more bike storage at its sites, so staff can keep their bike safe while not riding, the Trust has also partnered with Brighton & Hove City Council to get some bike maintenance points installed at both Millview and Aldrington. While the council can only fund sites within their geographic area, the travel team would be happy to hear from other sites and look to find alternative funding to get additional points in place for staff where they are able to safely install them.
Staff can use these points to check bikes for basic safety maintenance, to inflate tyres etc.
For staff who don’t have a bike yet but would like one, Sussex Partnership are also extending the cycle scheme this year and staff can apply throughout November and December. Full details are on the wellbeing section of the intranet.
