Cycle September is back for 2022!

#CycleSeptember is back for another year, and it fits perfectly with our annual Travel Smarter September. Love to Ride are offering a whole host of prizes for those who climb the leaderboard by logging journeys made by bike.

All cyclists old and new can take part

The challenge runs throughout September and can be completed as an individual or as part of a team, the more colleagues you recruit, the more points you gain. The aim is to get as many people cycling as possible.

If you already cycle regularly this is a great opportunity to be rewarded for choosing to travel sustainably. Even if you don’t yet cycle and are considering taking it up, this is a great incentive.

There is also a variety of support available to purchase a bike through the government-backed Cycle to Work scheme, through the scheme staff can purchase a bike with no upfront cost and the bike is paid for through a direct monthly salary sacrifice. Please do get in touch if you’d like some more information.

An active commute = a healthy commute

There are a host of great health benefits associated with cycling, it can also help to improve planetary health by reducing air pollution. This has another positive health knock-on effect more locally, as it means that the air our community breathes is cleaner.

This also ties in quite nicely with our Pedal Power challenge, where staff can sign up to complete virtual routes of 100, 250 & 800 miles within eight weeks. If you’d be interested to sign up and would like some more information email hayleycarmicheal@nhs.net.
